Making sense of it, together

Something brought you here. Maybe you know what it is, maybe you don't yet. Either way, this is a good place to start.

I'm Sabrin, an integrative counsellor. What I do isn't about fixing you or handing you answers. It's about the two of us sitting with what's real for you together and slowly making sense of it.

You bring yourself, exactly as you are. I bring curiosity, warmth, and commitment to understanding you. That's where it starts.

Who I am

Headshot of Sabrin Daoud headshot

I'm Sabrin Daoud, a qualified integrative counsellor (psychodynamic and person-centred) and registered MBACP member.

The relationship between us is at the centre of everything I do. Real change doesn't happen through technique alone, it happens in the space between two people when there's enough safety, enough honesty, and enough trust to go somewhere new together.

I understand what it means to carry the weight of generations. Grief, silence, and patterns passed down through families and cultures we didn't choose. That kind of pain doesn't always have a name. It belongs in the room.

Every session is online, so I work with people right across the UK. Wherever you are, there's room for you here.

More about me and my training  ·  On culture and belonging

It takes courage to ask for help. That courage is already the first step of the work.

Who I work with

You don't need to arrive
with answers

I work with adults, 18 and over, from all walks of life, cultures, and backgrounds. Whatever shape your life takes, you don't need to make yourself smaller or simpler, or arrive with the right words, to work with me.

Maybe you've been carrying something heavy for a long time and you've learned to live around it, but part of you is tired of just managing. Of masking.

Maybe something has shifted, in who you are, what you believe, how you see yourself or the world around you. Perhaps there are questions you carry quietly, or a heaviness with no clear name, things that feel too layered or too close to bring to the people in your life.

Or maybe it's something older than that. The things your family couldn't say. Pain that was never named, quietly handed down until it reached you. Patterns that keep showing up, and you're beginning to sense they didn't start with you.

This kind of work asks for commitment and patience. This kind of work is rarely quick, and it's not always comfortable, but showing up, session after session, is what makes it possible.

My job is to walk alongside you, for as long as that's useful.

Some of what people bring. This isn't a list you need to fit into:
Anxiety and low mood Depression Stress and burnout Self-esteem Grief and loss Relational dynamics Identity, belonging and culture Neurodivergence Intergenerational and family patterns

If any of that sounded familiar, the next step is a small one.

How we work

Your pace.
Our direction.

I work integratively, which means I draw on more than one approach rather than following a single model. Everyone who comes to therapy is different, and there isn't one right way of doing it, so how we work gets shaped around you rather than the other way round. More on how I work.

01

You lead

There's no fixed agenda, our sessions are led by you. You might arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about, or just with a feeling. Both are fine. I'm here to be present with you, not to direct you.

02

We go underneath

Working psychodynamically means we try to understand what's going on beneath the surface. The patterns in how you relate to people, the things you find yourself doing without quite knowing why, what your body is telling you before you've found the words for it. And where a lot of it might have come from.

03

We honour your story

Some of what we carry began long before us, passed down through our families and cultures without our choosing. Understanding those roots, gently and without judgment, is a big part of the work.

04

All of you belongs

Person-centred values run through everything I do. I lead with empathy, and I'd rather sit with what's actually real for you than tidy it into something more comfortable. Feeling genuinely met, rather than managed or analysed, matters as much as anything we talk about. I hold the whole of you in mind: your thoughts, your body, your culture, your spirit. Nothing needs to be left at the door.

FAQ

Questions you might
be sitting with

What actually happens in our sessions?

In the first few sessions a lot of it is about building some safety between us. I'll ask some questions to help us get started, and you'll tell me a bit about your story and what's brought you here, at whatever pace feels right for you.

After that it's mostly a conversation. Some weeks you'll know exactly what you want to talk about, other weeks less so, and both are completely fine.

What if I'm in crisis right now?

This practice isn't equipped to offer emergency or crisis support. If you're in immediate danger, please call 999. For urgent support, you can call Samaritans free, any time, on 116 123, or contact NHS 111.

What kind of things do people bring to therapy with you?

Anything, really. People come with all sorts, and quite often with something they can't put a name to yet.

There's no threshold you need to meet, and nothing is too small to bring.

I'm not sure I'm "bad enough" to need therapy.

This is one of the most common things people feel, and it makes sense. A lot of us were raised with the idea that you only ask for help when things are really bad.

But therapy isn't only for when things fall apart. It's also a space to get to know yourself, and there's no destination you're meant to reach or anything that needs fixing before you're allowed in. If something's on your mind, that's reason enough.

How do I know if we're a good fit?

Honestly, we won't know until we've spoken. That's exactly why I offer a free 25-minute call, so we can get a sense of each other before either of us commits to anything.

If it feels right, we'll go from there. If it doesn't, that's worth knowing too, and I'll happily point you towards someone who might suit you better.

How long will therapy take?

There's no fixed time frame. I work open-ended, so we continue for as long as feels right, whether that's a few months or a few years, and it's entirely up to you when that is. There isn't really a fixed ending either, we check in regularly and adjust as we go, together.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, everything you share is confidential. There are a small number of legal exceptions which I'll explain in our first session, but they are rare and I would always aim to speak with you first.

I also work under regular clinical supervision, meaning I may discuss our work in an anonymised way to ensure I'm supporting you as well as I can. Your identity is never disclosed.

Reaching out is often the hardest part. We can start with a short call, with nothing decided in advance, and see how it feels to talk.
